London: Petticoat Lane Market and Bankside

Dana shops for bargains at the market and Matt absorbs the Millennium Bridge.

The Millennium Bridge crosses the Thames, with St. Paul's Cathedral just north of it.

The rooms here aren't large,
but they've got all the comforts.

This is room 438.

...and a look at the top
of the same escalator

I suppose each train
probably has an ID number.

Our first stop of the day was
at one of London's most popular
street markets, dating back to 1608.

Dana ends up finding a
horsehair dress and a silk top,
totaling 15 pounds.

Petticoat Lane Market is open Monday to Friday on Wentworth and Middlesex Streets...

...and on Sundays, it expands to include many connecting streets as well.

There's the "Gherkin"
building, dead center.

The Millennium Bridge is
between Blackfriars Bridge
and Southwark Bridge.

of the river

Looking east from the Millennium Bridge, you can see Southwark Bridge, London Bridge,
and Tower Bridge.

This clean-up device is a great idea.
I wish more of our bodies of water
in the US had things like this.

St. Paul's is straight ahead
of the north end of
the Millennium Bridge.

A breeze catches Dana's hair on the north end of the Millennium Bridge.

Dana's eager for that mushroom and cheese-stuffed crepe from
a small Christmas market.

These kayakers don't mind
the cold water...

...as they launch from the
south bank of the Thames.

Matt's got his mouth around
a "hog roast" sandwich.

And there again is the "Gherkin"in the background!
