Westminster Abbey, London

Monarchs and poets are buried here... every coronation happens here... it's the church of churches.

All visitors are welcome to light a candle in the nave and say a prayer for a loved one.

There's our friend
Benjamin behind me.

Almost every British ruler
has been crowned here since
William the Conqueror in 1066.

 I hear ya knockin'
but you can't come in.

Check the January 2006 galleries;
there are pics of me at this same door.

You're not allowed to
snap pics inside the Abbey...

...so I snuck a few.  Sshhh!

The Lady Chapel has a spectacular
fan-vaulted roof with carved pendants.

The cloister garth is the
yard between the Abbey
and the monks' quarters.

The abbey is designed
in the shape of a cross.

Dana inside the Chapter House...

...which is located in the east
cloister and dates from the 1250s.

The monks met here daily
for prayers and to
discuss the day's work.

Let's see if the monks hate the pop-in as much as we do.

The little cloister and its garden were inaccessible this day.
