Notre Dame Cathedral

Matt & Dana traipse in, up, and around the Paris landmark with Claudia & Brian.
No curvature of the spine required for admission.

Walking southwest
on Rue D'Arcole...

...we arrive at the great church.

A giant Christmas tree stands
in front of the main entrance.

Notre Dame was constructed between 1163 and 1334.

This is the west front and
its twin towers; it went up
between 1225 and 1250.

The doorways are topped by sculptures.

Can you believe these colors?

Street performers are a common sight
on the plaza in front of Notre Dame.

The grey body-painted dude stands frozen as a statue...

...until someone drops money
in his hat, at which point
he springs to life.

The Eiffel Tower is
due west of Notre Dame.

These views from atop
the west front of the cathedral
are magnificent.

The Stryga--- a vampire or “bird of night”--- gazes pensively over Paris.

Matt & Dana

All of Paris is at our feet.

That's the Basilica of the
Sacre Coeur at the top right.

Dana, Matt, Claudia

Claudia and Brian are pissed:

The wire barrier
keeps them from climbing out
to ride the gargoyles.

If only the chimera had a
sassy blue knitted hat, you
couldn't tell them apart.

Dana does her best gargoyle.

Claudia, chimera!

Cliff and Norm
never switch barstools.

the River Seine

These two can shoot
the shit all afternoon.

This may explain the gravel pellets that keep falling
on the street mime's head.

What do you mean,
there's no elevator down?”

the Bourdon, the largest of the five bells at Notre Dame

Matt with Emmanuel (the bell)

The Bourdon is in the south tower
and weighs over 13 tons.

Dana and Claudia take a load off next to the great bell.

Wonder where these doors lead?
